Request a Street Tree
Request a Street Tree Program
The District of Sechelt is working to enhance our urban forest and to meet the goals set in our Urban Forest Plan. The Request a Street Tree program invites Sechelt residents to apply to have a free street tree planted on the road allowance in front of their property. We gratefully acknowledge the financial support of the BC Hydro Community ReGreening Program.
Read the info below to make sure meet the requirements before applying.
Applications for 2026 have now closed. Please check back again in January 2027.
Which species of tree can be planted?
Please see the table below to view the species options.
If there is a specific species of tree you would like planted, please tell us. The Parks Arborist will assess the planting site and determine if it is appropriate for your requested species. If it isn’t, we can choose a better suited tree for the conditions. Our final decisions are based on experience and past success while also taking into account climate change and our urban forest management plan. Also, it should be noted that tree selection will be determined by nursery stock availability. Not all trees are available at all times.
