What is a Plumbing System?

As defined by the District of Sechelt Building Bylaw No. 409, 2003 and the current edition of the BC Plumbing Code;

Plumbing system means a drainage system, a venting system and a water system or parts thereof.

Plumbing Permits are required for:

  • Installation, alteration or additions of Plumbing Systems
  • Replacement of Storm and Sanitary Sewers
  • Replacement of Watermains
  • Replacement of some fixtures
  • Fire Sprinkler systems
  • Irrigation system connections
  • Backflow Preventer installation or replacement
  • Solar Hot Water systems
  • Auxiliary Water systems

Plumbing Permits are not required for repairs.

Applications for Plumbing Permits can be made through the District of Sechelt’s online Permit system Cloudpermit.
